Reconciling patient payments back to the EHR — automatically
Collecting a payment is only half the job. Someone still has to match it to the right encounter, post it to the ledger and make sure the patient's balance reflects reality. When that work is manual, errors creep in and patients receive statements for balances they've already paid.
Where manual reconciliation breaks
Payments arrive through multiple channels — card terminals, online links, checks — and each needs to be matched to a patient and visit. Staff copy transaction details between systems, often at the end of the day, when mistakes are most likely.
How Murphi handles it
When a patient pays through a Murphi text link, the payment is already tied to the balance and encounter it was sent for. Murphi posts it back to the EHR or practice management system automatically, marks the balance paid and sends the patient a receipt by text.
A live view of collections
A daily ledger shows what was collected, what's posted and when funds will be deposited. Staff see exceptions — a partial payment, a refund, a mismatch — rather than scanning every transaction.
Every payment method
ACH, debit, credit cards and digital wallets all flow into the same reconciliation process, so adding a new payment option doesn't add new manual work.
Why it matters
Accurate, automatic posting prevents duplicate statements, reduces patient frustration and shortens the time between care and cash. It also frees billing staff to focus on complex accounts instead of data entry.
The best payment experience ends with a receipt for the patient and nothing to do for the staff.
